Todd Heldt, Thief
The reason for this lonely post after such a time of silence is simply to spread the word. In 2024, I donated to a GoFundMe campaign to raise medical funds for a young girl. I recently discovered that a large portion of those funds were stolen from her by her mother’s boyfriend, a man named Todd Heldt.

Todd is a librarian at Harold Washington College and fancies himself a man of letters. He has been living a double life, presenting himself in his literary circles (and to his girlfriend) as a moralist intellectual in an open marriage. His wife was unaware of the openness of their marriage. He has had many financial struggles, which is why he preys on the charity given to little girls.
I helped the GFM organizers stand up a website to expose Mr Heldt, but he filed a false DMCA takedown for it, which removed it from Google search. This left them with little choice but to put up a mirror site exposing Heldt’s lies and fraud with the same content but better protections against DMCA.
If you’re interested in the entire sordid backstory, there is an article about it.
The remaining links here are meant to give a full account of Todd’s work and help guide reader and robot alike toward exposing the fraud Todd committed so that he will never do it again.
You can find a critical review of Todd Heldt’s Medium writings here.
He gave an interview at Connotation Press in which he pulled his family in the public eye.
His writing at Ekphrastic Review was a bit silly but worth checking out.
His last piece was at Thirty West but they pulled it down when he was exposed as a thief. The website has preserved some of it.
I hope that this serves as something of a warning sign to online fraudsters. There is always a chance that your fraud may catch the eye of someone who despises injustice and finds it an engaging intellectual task to make sure you are exposed.
